We recently had the pleasure of styling a small, private deck with our Vineyard Deep Seating. The space was somewhat limited, but with its intention to be shared between two people, it was the perfect spot to create a conversational arrangement with two deep seating chairs.
Assessing the Space
When we spoke with the homeowners, they envisioned using the area in the morning to relax with a cup of coffee — or, to wind down in the evening with a glass of wine and some knitting.
With that in mind, we thought a pair of deep seating chairs with a side table in between would be just right.
Deep Seating Furniture
With four different deep seating collections to choose from, we had to narrow our choice down to one.
Each of our deep seating collections features a unique design style that is plush and cozy as well as:
- Marine-grade foam cushions with an interior drain for quick drying
- Lumber & fabrics that resist weather, salt, sun, mold and mildew
- All-weather Sunbrella® fabric & genuine POLYWOOD® lumber with UV-inhibited colors to minimize fading
Vineyard Deep Seating
Ultimately, we decided to go with one of our newest collections — Vineyard. The Vineyard Deep Seating Chair was the perfect fit for this smaller space. And, the back of this particular chair is actually a giant pillow, making this seating arrangement extra cozy.
When it came to color selection, we chose our classic black lumber paired with cushions covered in Sunbrella® Natural. We love this contemporary black and white look, allowing us to pull in color with accessories. In the future, the homeowners can easily switch up their outdoor look by adding different pillows, swapping the rug and/or plants and flowers, etc.
The Final Look
Since the furniture we chose represented both dark and light colors, we pulled in a mid-tones to complete the look with soft blue/green accents.
Our 16″ Spa pillows, patterned rug in robin’s egg blue, succulents, and wispy green ferns helped soften the overall design; the warmer tan outdoor curtains balanced out the cooler tones and made the space feel extra relaxed and romantic.
We love the way the homeowner’s tall bushes surrounding the deck created an intimate space that was perfect for watching the sunset and working on craft projects in the evening.
TIP: If you’re looking to add a little more privacy to your own outdoor area, an easy solution is to add in varying heights of plants around the perimeter of your space.

Berry Smoothie Bowl Recipe
Since the homeowner uses this space primarily to enjoy her morning coffee, we decided a smoothie bowl was an appropriate, and Instagram-worthy, breakfast treat to enjoy on her new Vineyard Deep Seating Chairs.
Our favorite part about smoothie bowls is how there is no right or wrong way to make one. Plus they’re incredibly simple to throw together! Below you’ll find the recipe we used for this makeover, but feel free to combine whatever ingredients you’d like.
- Strawberries (frozen)
- Raspberries (frozen)
- Almond milk
- Greek Yogurt (single serving)
- Sliced Almonds
- Chia Seeds
Throw a handful of the frozen berries into a blender and add a single serve container of greek yogurt. Mix together and add almond milk until you achieve the consistency you like. When combined, pour the smoothie into a bowl.
Top the smoothie with fresh blueberries and raspberries, thinly sliced kiwis and almonds, and a sprinkle of chia seeds. Enjoy!
